As a Software Engineer, you'll develop software solutions for our education customers through Angular, Node.js, Express, and a wide range of Google Platform technologies. We also integrate tightly with Google tooling and the full range of APIs available using Apps Script. In this software development role, you will work with lead and senior software developers to understand business needs, clarify requirements, and develop applications to CDW coding standards and quality. You'll also collaborate in ascertaining optimal solution architecture, to ensure application efficiency, maintainability, and scalability.

This is a remote role, working with a team that works in an EST timezone.

Opportunity to travel to Google Next and other relevant tech/industry conferences, as well as the potential for face to face team retreats/meetings.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Collaborate on solution and product design activities

    • Facilitate innovative design and delivery of solutions to challenging technical issues through information gathering and collaboration

  • Analyze, code/develop, test, and release new product features, enhancements, and improvements

    • Write concise, documented, testable, and maintainable code

    • Deliver technical research, validation, proof of concepts and other technical documentation

  • Collaborate both within the development team and across teams to improve our software development, quality, and release processes and practices

    • Working with the team on pull requests and code reviews

    • Growing and improving our tool chain and related processes 

    • Support of automated testing and delivery

  • Support our production software

    • Assist in monitoring production systems and infrastructure

    • Investigation and resolution of production customer issues

  • Collaborate with Product, QA and other software engineers in planning, retrospectives, and other scrum/Agile activities

  • Continuously increase mastery and expertise on products and services provided by CDW

  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience on a production web application development team, including exposure to APIs, with attention to performance and scalability
  • Demonstrated experience with Typescript, Javascript and full stack technologies, including but not limited to Node, Express, serverless computing, CSS, HTML5, and relational and NoSQL databases
  • Solid understanding of Angular (or other front-end development frameworks, i.e. React/Vue) and ability to write clean, concise, and maintainable code
  • Strong grasp of web development fundamentals and patterns
  • Experience
    • with software development processes such as automated testing, code reviews, and the production technical documentation
    • using and implementing deployment workflow and task automation processes
    • collaborating with Product and other internal teams to produce technical designs and solutions to business problems 
  • Comfortable working in Agile development processes and teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with customers, coworkers, management and executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities/projects, meet deadlines, facilitate change and delegate responsibilities.

Nice to have

  • Industry certifications including Google Developer Certification
  • Experience:
    • building product integrations with Google APIs and/or Google Apps Script
    • working within a CI/CD process and other DevOps activities
    • with a broad range of testing technologies and solutions
    • of Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
