The Support Specialist supports the overall operations of the transportation services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting internal customers with transportation inquiries including freight quoting and processing, managing and analyzing of freight claims, managing the TSM Help Desk, and works with the Sales teams and customers on logistics services for high visibility projects. This position works closely with our carriers and other internal departments to implement solutions to resolve issues.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to track and manage large, high visible, and complex project roll-outs.
  • Ensure customer SLA’s are successfully met.
  • Manage freight cost for large roll-out to ensure project stays on budget.
  • Track and manage carrier performance and work with Support Analyst to identify quality carriers.
  • Monitor and maintain carrier performance.
  • Identify process improvements for cost-savings.
  • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Pro-actively identify and resolve issues.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project requirements are being met.
  • Provide support with respect to internal and external transportation inquiries.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding outbound freight.
  • Monitor and maintain carrier performance reporting based on identified metrics.
  • Communicate production related issues to internal stakeholders, including but not limited to, IT, ICAN, and Logistics Compliance team.
  • Ensure thorough communication regarding high value, high risk, and priority shipments to all core carriers to minimize risk to CDW.
  • Process tasks from SPS and enter freight claims daily.
  • Update claims on a weekly basis by investigating and working with carriers for status updates.
  • Take initiative to quote and optimize LTL/FTL network to achieve optimum price points.
  • Additional hours outside standard business hours, such as nights and weekends occasionally required.
  • Provide support for inbound related activities including tracking shipments.
  • Communicate sales VP’s, Directors and AM’s on various TSM and freight initiatives.
  • Participate in sales focus groups and round robin presentations.
  • Review and calculate Sales’ GP reversals.
  • Take lead on investigating and evaluating various AS400 production issues and problem solve with IT when needed.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in role focus area

Required Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide audience of coworkers.
  • History of balancing competing priorities with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
  • Detail oriented and well organized with demonstrated ability to do in-depth research.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and sense of urgency.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with strong knowledge of Excel (formulas, graphs, and tables).
  • Demonstrated competitive spirit, be customer oriented with the passion to be the best.
  • Basic financial knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field.
