The Software Asset Manager (SAM) will be responsible for critical lifecycle management engagements focused on enabling customers to accelerate their deployment and adoption of technology solutions with an ultimate goal of driving business outcomes. The SAM is a licensing expert that executes customer onboarding, on-going license management support, routine consumption/utilization reporting and analytics, “true-up/true-forward” guidance and leads Digital Touch engagements. This position involves direct customer interaction, licensing and solution expertise, data reconcilation, project coordination, sales opportunity identification and teamwork. The SAM will collaborate closely with CDW and vendor stakeholder groups (as account teams, specialists, delivery teams, other CX resources, etc.) to help customers realize value as quickly and consistenly as possible. The primary purpose of this role is to provide the ‘best in industry’ lifecycle experience for CDW’s customers.



Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Software Licensing Management Training and Support – entitlement, structure, portal(s), conversions, etc.
  • Coordinate, plan and execute Customer Onboarding sessions
  • Create License Consumption/Utilization reports – scheduled or ad-hoc
  • Schedule and conduct Customer Success Reviews to demonstrate CDW’s value
  • Provide ‘True-Up/True Forward’ Validation and Guidance for eligible customers
  • Lead Digital Touch engagements – large scale customer interactions and campaigns
  • Complete prescribed and ad-hoc CX workflows and update CDW tools accordingly
  • Identify expansion opportunities (increase customer spend)
  • Maintain/contribute to the Customer Experience (CX) SAM Playbook (best practices)
  • Ad-ho problem solving – involving licensing, software and tools
  • Adoption of additional CDW tools as they are designed and delivered
  • Stay current on industry standards, relevant solutions and vendor-based licensing changes
  • Participate in CDW customer events as necessary

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience

  • Detail-oriented and self-driven
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written using a variety of styles and techniques appropriate to the audience
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines
  • Strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of software licensing programs and deployment technologies
  • Stay up to date on products, applications, technical service, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising, and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature, seminars, and online training
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications 
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information. Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology. Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize. Ability to apply common sense in performing job. Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to other CDW locations or client sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior knowledge of or experience with Cisco Software (Cisco Enterprise Agreements a plus)
