The Principal Solution Architect applies the necessary technical breadth and depth to develop successful CDW ServiceNow strategy and solutions to meet the needs of the business. They work collaboratively with a multitude of stakeholders across all areas of the enterprise to help understand business needs, develop technical solutions, and provide recommendations. They work with business process, developer, and project leadership team members to design, document, and promote maintainable solutions that meet client requirements. As a leader among peers, the Principal Solution Architect performs solution design reviews and is responsible for creating and managing reusable artifacts that improve the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead the design of scalable and sustainable technical solutions in accordance with requirements provided by stakeholders while maintaining platform stability, scalability, and compliance with applicable license agreements and audit policies.
  • Serve as primary technical point-of-contact for projects and as the face of the development team to the customer.
  • Define, at an architectural and design level of detail, technical solutions aligned with our client’s business problems and ServiceNow Implementation Best Practices.
  • Understand customer requirements, translate to solutions, and communicate to clients.
  • Apply industry best practices and advanced methodologies to address and review system requirements, business processes, changing development and technology environments.
  • Influence and consult (providing options with pros, cons and risks) while providing thought leadership in solving business processes and/or technical problems and relay that in English and not just IT jargon.
  • Demonstrate deep functional and technical knowledge of all ServiceNow modules, especially ITSM, ITBM, CSM, Portal, and Integration Hub.
  • Participate in quality assurance testing and quality assurance practices to deliver services that meet requirements, work as expected and integrate with other business services.
  • Develop and maintain processes to ensure license compliance of the platform, including user permissions and access audits and management.
  • Make recommendations and proposals to leadership on architectural integration design both within the platform and with other systems via integrations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other members of the team. Maintain curiosity and proactive familiarity with ServiceNow capabilities and share knowledge and best practice with the entire team.
  • Demonstrate accountability for delivery against business goals and objectives.
  • Be a leader in documenting and curating reusable components to increase efficiency among all engagements.
  • Participate in design reviews with other team members, providing senior guidance and reinforcing design and architecture best practice.
  • The Principal Solution Architect works with SNS Technical Consultants and Developers to ensure best practices are consistent across teams and consistently implemented between implementation engagements and Continual Improvement Programs (CIP), ensuring quality solution design on initial deployment and as the client environment moves in-and-out of growth and sustainment phases.
  • Serve as first line contact to assist Pre-Sales with scoping service engagements.
  • Continually look for ways to improve systems and processes.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of large scale, enterprise planning, design, implementation and support experience
  • Proven experience designing and consulting on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Experience working at all levels of the organization to develop a platform roadmap and strategy and ability to maintain consensus around the strategic direction.

Required Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years as a ServiceNow Solution Architect or similar role
  • Current ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • Expert level proficiency with accompanying current Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) credentials in ITSM, plus at least two (2) of the following areas: CSM, ITBM, ITOM, IRM, Platform, or CAD.
  • Proven experience with key technologies relevant to the ServiceNow integration solutions including: SSO, SAML, SSL, Web Services, LDAP, JDBC, ODBC, REST, SCP, FTPS
  • Experience with scripting in the ServiceNow platform using Java: Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Actions, UI Pages, Angular JS, Jelly, etc. · Experience using the Agile/Scrum methodology, leading scrum teams, leading backlog grooming, etc.
  • Conversational familiarity with ITIL.
  • Ability to conduct product demonstrations and effectively communicate ServiceNow value proposition and key differentiators as well as estimate level of work.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders and various cross functional teams as well as customers.
  • Proven ability to proactively collaborate and build relationships, take initiative, and creatively problem solve.
  • Demonstrated history of successfully coordinating complex projects with multiple facets and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and strong analytical skills.
  • Experience speaking with both business and technical customers at all levels.
  • Ability to understand data findings to draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to follow through with tasks, projects, troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% or as needed to other CDW locations, meetings and client sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, a related technical degree or equivalent
  • At least five (5) years working on the ServiceNow platform
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundations Certification
