Sirius Federal, LLC is looking for a Site Survey Engineer, with an active security clearance, TS/SCI, to work at our client’s site located in either Washington, D.C. or Reston, VA.  We are seeking highly qualified and motivated Site Survey Engineers.

Technologies will include legacy campus environments based on spanning tree, to engineering future solutions based on SDN, NVF and SD WAN. Must be familiar with Type 1 encryption solutions. Strong knowledge of networking at the CCNP level, strong knowledge of general routing and switching protocols necessary. Existing, or working knowledge of MPLS and BGP with willingness to expand knowledge. Candidate must also have general knowledge of WAN acceleration, load balancing, data center technologies, and network automation and management tools.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  • Plans network design, layout and develops the baseline configuration for the system. Assist in devolving network automation strategies as part of a shift to future DevOps based environment. 
  • Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements and provides recommendations and guidance. 
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices. 
  • Monitor network performance and integrity. 
  • Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure. 
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness. 
  • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have an active TS/SCI clearance and with the ability to pass a CI Polygraph (required to start)
  • Must have and maintain an IAT II Certification
  • Must have at least one of the following certifications: CCNP, JNCIS-ENT, JNCIP-ENT or similar
    network certification. 

Other Position Requirements:

  • BA/BS and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree and 7+ years of relevant experience
  • or High School Diploma and 9+ years of relevant experience 
  • 3+ years of Cisco experience, certifications preferred CCNP, or higher. 
  • 3+ years of Juniper experience, certifications preferred JNCIA, or higher. 
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support. 
  • Knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, network cabling, and other network related hardware. 
  • Working knowledge of network technologies and protocols including trunking, VTP, Layer 2 & 3 Port-channels, Spanning-Tree, Port-Security, HSRP, EIGRP, OSPF, QoS, BGP, and MPLS, BFD. 
  • Knowledge of Hierarchical Network design and multi-layer network design for troubleshooting. 
  • Knowledge to perform packet capture analysis and troubleshooting performance issues. 
  • Working knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications for troubleshooting. 
  • Knowledge of network monitoring using SNMP protocol and system logging. 
  • Knowledge of Cisco Voice and Conferencing technologies preferred. 
  • Working experience with trouble ticketing systems like Siebel, Remedy, or ServiceNow. 
  • Knowledge of Splunk, Wireshark, HPNA, HP NNMi, or Netscout is useful, but not mandatory. 
  • Conduct site installations, surveys, and other related tasks 
  • Maintain complete technical documentation. 
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability. 
  • Performs complex troubleshooting, backup, archiving, and disaster recovery. 
  • May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users and operation staff.
