The Performance Marketing team brings the marketing strategies and plans to life for the customer by becoming expert in system support to effectively executing outbound marketing content and messaging. This team distributes all activities in the marketing plan to customers using the pre-selected marketing channel, including events. They support cross-marketing functions by facilitating traditional project management and providing collateral to the CDW Sales team. This team will oversee and enforce governance, helping to ensure that agreed upon principles and guidelines are taught, communicated, understood and adhered to. This team will also support the technology requirements of the marketing organization, managing rollouts, upgrades, etc. 

The Manager, Customer Data Platform (CDP) is responsible for leading the audience strategy and execution of cross channel and channel specific targeting (email, paid social, paid search, display, etc.) for the marketing plan.  You will leverage critical thinking skills to seek out process efficiencies, lead for results, influence, demonstrate ownership, earn trust, build relationships, and empower action.  You will play a key role in defining the vision, roadmap and priorities for the team and communicate across the organization.

The Manager, Customer Data Platform is responsible for promoting change and leading efforts to improve our multi-channel customer experience.  You will consult, plan and execute on audience targeting by working closely and cross-functionally with stakeholders, channel owners, analytics, data science and more.  You will work in the customer data platform and work with technology resources to identify technical blockers and resolve data issues.  Other key responsibilities include, but not limited to:  

  • Audience Management – consultation, execution, and optimization of audiences 
  • CDP Management – research, coordinate data, identify use cases and QA functionality 
  • Data Management – prioritize, insource, QA, and validate 
  • Operations – deliver activity audiences on time, plus identify and execute on operating efficiencies 

This role reports to the Senior Manager of Direct Marketing and supervises a team of Strategists in establishing day-to-day priorities, setting processes/procedures and monitoring workload to ensure adequate resources are available.  

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Collaborates and coordinates with internal data teams and platform vendor on data, delivery, timing, & QA
  • Acts as a liaison for internal teams and platform vendor for planning and delivery of data needs.
  • Consults with Marketing teams to support channel tactics or improve activity KPIs
  • Manage daily operations of delivering audiences to digital channels (email, social, display, etc.), people management, plus long-term planning, organizing, staffing, leading & coordination of the team and projects
  • Manages vendor relationship, including issue resolution, future product roadmap & identify new opportunities
  • CDP subject matter expert, including data, definitions, and operating procedures.
  • Stays informed of CDP relative to industry best practices.
  • Supports team on development and alignment of new processes with stakeholders.
  • Guides and coaches team members to develop, motivate, engage, and improve performance. 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of Marketing or Technology experience OR 11 years of Marketing or Technology experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 years’ experience in Customer Data Platform Management or related field.
  • 1 year of management experience  
  • Intermediate SQL knowledge.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • History of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to creatively problem solve.
  • Proven ability to identify areas of opportunity for existing practices/processes and execute appropriate improvements.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or Business, Computer Science, Database Marketing or related field
