The purpose of the role is to assist in development of business software solutions for complex and large-scale projects through object and data modeling, database design, programming, quality assurance and implementation support. The Cyber Security Fellow participates in application standards development and serves as an evangelist for best practices in software development. 

What you’ll do: 

• Develop business critical applications and systems  
• Collaborate with IT teams to clarify design and implementation while meeting project needs
• Resolve defects and application issues
• Collaborate within and across IT teams
• Learn how to practically apply programming skills to real-world problems
• Learn how to administer and scale enterprise applications  
• Understand enterprise code development standards  
• Learn how code migrates through development, QA and production environments
• Understand how production changes get approved and deployed 

The 2024 CDW Legacy Excellence Summer Program will begin Tuesday, May 28th and end Saturday, August 3rd.  

Participation in the Legacy Excellence Program requires residing in Chicago for the summer and attendance at one of the following HBCUs: 

• Alabama A&M University
• Florida A&M University
• North Carolina A&T State University
• Southern University and A&M College 

Requirements (Preferred) 

• Working towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
• Knowledge of OS level scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python and Bash  
• Knowledge in application development  
• Strong development skills (Java (object-oriented language) or RPG)
• General Windows operating system knowledge 
   

What we’re looking for:  

• Currently enrolled undergraduate students with a graduation date of May 2025 with ability to begin full-time employment in 2025 (if offered employment post-internship)
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Strong interpersonal and time management skills
• Self-motivated and results-driven individual who will make an impact while utilizing strong written and verbal skills to communicate effectively
• Team oriented and able to develop positive relationships with coworkers and other partners involved
• Strong presentation skills, including ability to develop and deliver presentations
• Microsoft Office skills including, but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Word  
• Availability to work a 40-hour week within standard business hours throughout the summer
• Authorization to work in the US; without sponsorship as a full-time coworker
