The Manager, Business Development– position will be a critical role in driving the continued evolution of CDW•G’s national Education business. The primary responsibilities will be to grow sales and profit by developing the impact, visibility, and ongoing development of the Ed Strategist team, manage mutually beneficial relationships within the Edu business community that best complement CDWG’s overall strategy, and work with CDWG Management to co-develop our national business development strategy.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Develop account plans, strategies, tools, and job aids for Ed Strategists to execute against
  • Further develop manufacturer/vendor relationships and foster new opportunities
  • Provide weekly reporting on team results to Edu Leadership
  • Evaluate and report on business impact of Ed Strategy activities
  • Communicate regularly with Sales Director and Sales Managers to enhance focus on segment
  • Establish CDWG’s presence in the assigned region and community by networking with industry contacts, vendors, customers, and internal field teams
  • Communicate ideas with peers and leaders covering different markets
  • Give quarterly updates to executive management
  • Frequent visits/calls with various levels of management from high potential organizations
  • Develop business plan and job descriptions necessary for expansion of team
  • Participation in trainings, events, and activities on CDW’s behalf
  • Visiting customers and top prospects on own to present CDW Business Overview
  • Visiting customers with Account Managers present to present a Business Review
  • Escorting Vendors and CDW Field resources (such as FSAs) on-site at customer location
  • Attending and representing CDW at vendor led trainings, seminars, and meetings
  • Coaching and training a diverse team on business and strategy acumen.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Three (3) years of experience in technology sales or relevant field
    Other Required Qualifications
  • If internal Sales, must be a Senior Account Manager, Executive Account Manager, or Emerging Leader.
  • If external, must have 2 year previous management experience
  • Exemplary communication skills, written, oral, as well as presentation
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in planning and execution
