The Business Analyst assesses the activities of a given business unit or line of business. The Analyst makes recommendations pertaining to the projects the business unit should perform, in addition to relevant and timely corrections to the governance structure, business processes, and the structure of business information. This person illustrates the alignment (or lack thereof) between strategic goals and key business decisions regarding products and services; capabilities; and key business and IT initiatives. The Business Analyst works to develop an integrated view of the business unit using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, business analytics, task and workflow analysis
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low level information to a general understanding and distinguish user requests from the underlying needs
  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
  • Provide strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to collect and interpret client business needs and translate them into application, network and operational requirements
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal clients to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Functional requirements, Business requirements document and Used cases)
  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information and evaluating output and requirements is preferred
  • Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones, procedures, phases and corresponding elements
  • Be the liaison between the business units, technology and support teams is preferred
  • Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates and best practices
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group, managers, executives and subject matter experts
  • Assess and validate activities to determine if the plan will solve a given problem
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously
  • Perform assessments to evaluate the viability of a proposed project or idea
  • Participation in project definition, scope, objectives, risks and approach
  • Participate as a lead for solution review and planning is preferred
  • Define metrics to qualify project success and client satisfaction
  • Use and develop tools useful to the assessing and providing client recommendations
  • Work closely with CDW engineers to identify and understand the variables and requirements for projects
  • Identify project risks and inefficiencies and provide recommendations for resolution and mitigation; perform contingency planning
  • Incorporate process improvement and change management strategies in planning
  • Applications and infrastructure management experience; consulting experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business or computer-related field or equivalent experience
  • Expected billable utilization – 65%


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business or computer related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years’ experience in business analysis, developing recommendations to various business units. Additionally, providing relevant corrections to business processes, and the structure of business information.
  • Eight or more years’ experience establishing strategic direction.
  • This position may require the ability to travel average of 50%.
