The Senior Product Designer designs, develops and maintains creative designs for CDW web sites. This role helps understand customer needs and translate the insights into highly effective design solutions. The Senior Product Designer considers and applies technical and user needs into final User experience.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Takes ownership of the design and works closely and effectively both with the broader Product Design team and the Product Management and Engineering leaders
Translate brand and business strategies and requirements into effective cohesive design solutions utilizing a user-centered approach. Receives, weighs, and integrates diverse feedback from a multi-disciplinary team
Participate in the functional requirements definitions for new or modified extranet applications.
Able to work effectively in a fast-moving environment, juggle multiple projects, and prioritize work
Design user interface flows, page layouts and wireframes, user interface graphics, icons, leverages color schemes for new and recurring web projects.
Develop, research and create layouts for new site areas/features.
Presents designs in a clear, confident, professional, and cogent manner to diverse audiences
Able to explain rationale for design decisions within a larger context
Regularly communicates project status and shares design iterations
Understands the mission and goals of Product Design and is able to communicate this to product teams
Bachelor's degree in human computer interaction, user experience, visual arts, graphic design or related field from a four-year university or equivalent degree from college.
5 years of relevant design experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Collaborates closely with user researchers and contributes to research strategy
Advocates the role of design in the development process
Understands business goals in regards to the product area
Works to broaden product and domain expertise
Demonstrated experience with a variety of media and knowledge of basic design principles, layout, color theory; portfolio required.
Well versed with interaction design and information architecture methods and principles.
Knowledge of the user-centered design theory and demonstrated participation in an application of study findings to range of past projects.
Strong attention to detail and ability to creatively problem solve.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders including senior leadership.
Train and mentor junior designers.
Proven track record of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously and negotiating work flow, while meeting deadlines.
