This Payroll Analyst works closely with other departments in identifying, defining, recommending and implementing process and system changes. The role provides support, guidance, and technical expertise to different stakeholders. This role also takes on special projects to ensure best practices are followed and can see the project through to completion.
The Sr. Payroll Practitioner is a subject matter expert and can perform complex tasks and payroll processes with limited direct supervision. This role involves continuous review of current processes to ensure coworkers are paid accurately and in an efficient manner. Aside from daily responsibilities, this position takes on special projects to ensure best practices are followed and can see the project through to completion.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Maintain adequate internal controls and SOX compliance within the finance organization.Preparation of internal and external reports.
Document changes, proposals, and procedural updates as they occur.
Ensure consistent treatment of departmental controls and procedures.
Provide feedback and recommendations on process improvement opportunities, as well as assessing the potential impact of changes. Shares overall best practices with the finance organization.
Preparation, import, and auditing data submitted from (Compensation, Commissions, Benefits, 3rd Party vendors etc.).
Meet all deadlines to facilitate timely payroll transmissions.
Quarter end adjustment payroll transmissions.
Research and respond to employee inquiries (leave time, tax calculations, etc).
Education and/or Experience Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of relevant experience, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, reporting, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate information to all levels including Senior Leadership.
Strong creative problem solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated process documentation skills with critical attention to detail.
Proven project management, planning and organizational skills with the ability to effectively lead tasks and activities.
Must be able to delegate, multi-task, work well independently, yet, desire to be part of a team.
Thorough understanding of general payroll processes and procedures.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
Query writing experience in PeopleSoft.
Experience with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM), Financials, and Time & Labor modules.
ADP Print Services, Garnishment Services, and Tax Filing Services experience.
