The Supply Chain Planner position resides within the Procurement department. This role is responsible for managing and driving key supply chain strategies within a specified product category. The Supply Chain Planner works hand in hand with the Procurement Manager to develop, manage and execute on key strategies that ultimately position the product category for revenue and profitability growth. This role works closely with members of the respective Procurement buying team in areas such as improving supply chain efficiencies, effectively managing and reacting to rapidly changing market conditions and inventory planning/forecasting in support of emerging technologies. Alignment with CDW’s Product Management and Sales leadership teams are vital to this role.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Identify and develop strategic initiatives that will increase inventory planning and forecasting processes for the Procurement team.
Align with Product Management on product strategies, emerging technologies, partner management and category performance.
Develop practices to effectively manage and monitor key supply chain metrics such as inventory turns, inventory aging, customer backorders and opportunistic “buy-in” execution.
Manage and interface with key partners in developing supply chain and product strategies.
Keep current on emerging technologies and industry trend in order to make sound inventory strategy decisions.
Provide guidance and leadership to the buying team in areas of inventory, partner and supply chain management.
Coordinate planning and forecasting efforts with individual members of the buying team.
Strategize with the Procurement Manager on long term team initiatives and efficiency improvements.
Leverage and train team members on available reporting to develop business strategies.
Work/manage day to day tactical issues the team encounters from an IT production system perspective.
Articulate high level market trends and CDW’s role in the marketplace.
Up to 10% travel.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Technology or Supply Chain related field.
- 5 years of Purchasing/Supply Chain Management experience.
Other Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact at all levels including senior leadership.

- Strong ability to multitask and identify priorities.
- Working knowledge of Supply Chain Management in the Information Technology field.
