The Accounting function has responsibility for the preparation, consolidation and review of CDW’s financial statements, manages the company’s revenue accounting function, and manages the all partner finance monies for the Company.

The Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting manages the company’s revenue accounting function which supports proper revenue recognition for CDW.   This includes performing analysis and accounting research around revenue transactions, maintaining sound internal controls and policies and procedures in support of revenue recognition, working with external and internal auditors and performing special projects on an as needed basis.

  • Provides strong leadership, mentorship and coaching to attract, develop and retain a high-performing team.
  • Manages a team of professionals that includes their coaching, development and performance management.
  • Participates in cross-functional special projects as required. This could include involvement in potential acquisitions, as well as the integration of any acquired entities.
  • Manages a team of professionals that includes their coaching, development and performance management.
  • Collaborates with organizations across the company (legal, sales, order management, etc.) to influence critical behavior and process changes that could mitigate revenue recognition risks and enhance controls. This includes liaising with sales where needed on significant sales transactions and ensuring the accounting implications are fully understood and communicated.
  • Develops and maintains revenue recognition procedures to ensure accounting is appropriate based on CDW’s policies. 
  • Work closely with CDW’s technical accounting policy team to ensure that revenue recognition policies and procedures are consistent and compliant with GAAP and all technical pronouncements.
  • Performs accounting research on unusual or complex revenue transactions and determines the appropriate accounting, focusing on areas such as allocation of sales dollars, discounts, vendor-specific objective evidence requirements, and overall economics. Liaise with CDW’s technical accounting policy team on the more complex transactions.
  • Leads the timely completion of the monthly close process over revenue accounting.
  • Ensures the recording of revenue is at an appropriate level of detail in relevant systems to support the reporting needs of the business.
  • Assists in the design, execution and evaluation of revenue controls as well as interfacing with both internal and external auditors.
  • Implements new systems, or support changes to existing systems, as they relate to revenue recognition.
  • Serves as a technical resource to other areas of the Company as it relates to revenue recognition.
  • Maintains effective system of internal accounting controls in support of SOX compliance.
  • Oversees daily activities surrounding revenue recognition such as review of material sales transactions, etc.
  • Performs ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA.
  • External candidates: 7 years of finance experience, with at least 4 years in an accounting role, and 3 years of management experience.
  • Internal candidates: 6 years of finance experience, with at least 3 years in an accounting role, and 2 years of management experience.

  • Proven track record in problem analysis with the ability to creatively and proactively problem solve.
  • Track record of identifying process improvements and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain productive working relationships cross-functionally.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability and proven track record to coach, develop and mentor teams of internal and/or external people. Must have previously managed teams
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge and application of technical accounting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP packages, including PeopleSoft general ledger, and other tools such as Hyperion/Smartview. 
  • Experience with a revenue accounting tool (such as RevPro).
