The Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist will be responsible for selling Cisco Software Solutions to customers along with managing customer Cisco software engagements beginning with the initial customer contact, planning, data collection, Smart Account creation and reconciliation, to the presentation of the final plan to the customer. This position involves direct customer interaction, technical expertise, data reconciliation and project coordination and planning. The purpose of this role is to ensure that CDW is assisting customers in Cisco lifecycle success.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Utilize defined SAM process for customer engagements
  • Apply CDW tools for data collection/reconciliation and other features as needed
  • Work directly with customers and CDW teams to provide SAM service to customers
  • Position, understand, and sell CDW’s offerings in asset management category
  • Manage sales cycle and pipeline of opportunity
  • Achieve monthly engagement, revenue and gross profit targets
  • Data collection of customer licensing information from customer, software partners and CDW tools
  • Data reconciliation of customer licensing and purchase history for customer License Position
  • Develop resources and training on SAM policies and processes
  • Design and launch SAM campaigns
  • Record detailed log of activities
  • Interface directly with customers on creation and maintenance of e-delivery accounts for licensing
  • Gather and verify various account attributes required in the customer licensing order process
  • Understand and coordinate license trade-in and credits related to customer’s license account


  • Assist Software license specialists and account managers with SAM messaging
  • Develop and deliver training around SAM practices to CDW coworkers in multiple departments
  • Development of customer deliverable for final license position
  • Reporting on ROI of SAM program at CDW
  • Adoption of additional CDW tools as they are designed and delivered
  • Maintain minimum completion of engagements based on CDW SAM Goals
  • Stay current on industry standards and certification in SAM practices
  • Participated in CDW customer events (Red Carpets, TSS)
  • Travel 10% of time

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years industry experience
