This role is responsible for professional, technical systems administration and deployments to support CDW applications. This role participates in technical initiative and projects.

 

As a Systems Engineer, you are responsible for professional, technical, and systems administration of Windows Server installations to support CDW applications. You will install, configure and implement hardware/software standards company-wide. You will also be responsible for all server infrastructure management and administration as well as team technical initiatives and projects.

 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Install, configure, maintain, support, and fix servers, operating systems, and related software 
  • Maintains user documentation. 
  • Execute and optimize processes to ensure the highest level of efficiency 
  • Identify environment issues and make recommendations for improvement 
  • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability while supporting, installing, and maintaining all infrastructure and related software 
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned. 
  • Work additional evening and weekend hours as necessary. 10% travel required 

Other Responsibilities

  • Lead, participates in, and/or coordinates infrastructure projects and technology implementations 
  • Maintains user documentation for various stages of configuration, implementation and support of infrastructure services 
  • Execute and optimize the processes used to ensure proper software and firmware patch levels on servers using Microsoft SCCM or other tools. 
  • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability while supporting, installing, and maintaining all infrastructure and related software 
  • Identify environment issues and make recommendations for improvement 
  • Act as a point of escalation for first and second level support coworkers. You will coordinates and/or completes repairs of physical and logical failures 
  • Follow and suggest improvement to CDW’s policies, best practices and guidelines for the server infrastructure and performs other related duties as required or requested 
  • Collaborate with business owners to complete server project requirements. Participate in business continuity planning for infrastructure. 
  • Respond to and resolve support cases generated in CDW’s support ticketing system (Remedy). 
  • Monitor servers for failures and performance problems 
  • Support, install, maintain, and troubleshoot servers and related software. 
  • Coordinate with business owners to complete server project requirements. 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • 5 years of Information Technology Engineering experience installing/upgrading/managing Windows systems 

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience supporting email systems, including Office 365, Hybrid and on-prem Exchange.
  • Exchange Powershell experience.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to understand, retain, and communicate routine, factual information.
  • Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports and work-related manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, a related field or the equivalent working experience
  • Technical certifications associated to the chosen professional track.
  • ITIL.
  • Microsoft MS-900 (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals).
  • Microsoft MS-203 (Microsoft 365 Messaging).
  • Experience with Google Workspace.
  • Experience with ServiceNow.
