Belonging. IT Matters. by Samuel Perez

CDW continues its journey of belonging and working towards a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. This week, we're highlighting the unique perspectives of Samuel Perez (He/Him/His).

Describe your full, authentic self.

Hi, I'm Sam Perez, the Director of the Western Distribution Center at CDW. I'm a Latino professional and enjoy being outdoors, learning new things and I can fix almost anything… I think. And most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my kids.

What happens when you feel free to bring your whole authentic self to work?

Honestly, every time I'm in a new environment, I feel like I don't belong. It's never kept me from fully embracing the situation and making connections. But I really do feel it’s something that most people experience often. Once that sense of belonging kicks in though, it makes a huge difference. It means you're a part of something bigger and you have other people you can lean on for support. That sense of belonging can bring the best out of people and can result in all of us doing our best work. No one wants to be somewhere where they don't belong. It really does start with belonging.

What's one of CDW's values that you feel most resonates with you?

I feel that the CDW value that resonates the most with me is “We make things happen.” I’ve always found that at CDW, everyone is committed to delivering on commitments to each other and our customers. And I strive to always do my part to help and support in making great things happen.

What does life look like outside of the office for you?

My life outside of CDW consists of spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors and relaxing. I’m also currently in a master’s program at Rutgers University which takes up a good amount of time

What three words would you use to describe #LifeAtCDW?

To me, #LifeAtCDW is rewardingsupportive and of course always challenging.
