Giving Tuesday 2024: Celebrating Coworker Contributions

December 2, 2024  |   Lifeatcdw

Tuesday, Dec. 3, marks the 2024 celebration of Giving Tuesday. Created in 2012, the day of social good has grown into a year-round, global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. At CDW, we empower our coworkers to create positive change through our Social Impact benefits:

  • Volunteer Time Off Program: Eight hours of paid time off to volunteer
  • Matching Gifts Program: Up to $2,000 USD (or local currency) in matched donations to eligible nonprofits
  • Local Impact Program: $1,000 USD (or local currency) grants to eligible nonprofits by organizing group volunteer activities

We’re proud to celebrate coworkers across our footprint who dedicate their time, skills, and resources to support the causes that matter most to them – and bring others along. As you read their stories, reflect on how you can contribute an act of generosity in your corner of the world.

Using the CDW Volunteer Time Off Program, Jacob orchestrated the Configuration Community Service Program at the Central Distribution Center. He planned monthly volunteering events for the team and leveraged the Local Impact Program to provide grants to the nonprofits they volunteered with. In 2024, the Vernon Hills configuration team held 11 events across seven nonprofits, engaging 106 volunteers and donating $10,000 in grants.

Raabiah led the charge in 2024 as CDW’s newly appointed Social Impact Ambassador in South Africa. Her initiatives included sandwich drives, where coworkers prepared hundreds of sandwiches for patients stuck in lengthy queues at local hospitals. In addition, Raabiah coordinated a special Toy Drive for the children at Red Cross Hospital, bringing joy to local children and families in need.

Racheal utilized all three Social Impact programs to benefit Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. In addition to volunteering her time and contributing a matching gift to the nonprofit, she earned a $1,000 grant to Gleaners through the Local Impact Program by organizing a group volunteering activity between the CDW and Dell Technology teams. LIP grants can be earned through events with at least five CDW coworkers or a combination of 10 CDW coworkers, partners, or customers.

Using the Volunteer Time Off Program, Jane supported Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides essential services to families of critically ill children. In addition to bolstering CDW’s volunteer efforts, Jane led fundraising for Future Dreams, which advances breast cancer education, research and patient support. Jane also coordinated a breast and chest health masterclass with Future Dreams on the 2024 Tech Day of Pink, an annual breast cancer awareness initiative.

This year, Theresa organized and participated in two CDW litter cleanup events using the Volunteer Time Off Program to help upkeep natural areas and preserve ecosystems in the Greater Toronto Area. The first shoreline cleanup with A Greener Future engaged 17 volunteers who collected 3,213 pieces of litter. In the second shoreline cleanup with Keep the Earth Fresh, Theresa and 10 CDW coworkers cleaned up the Etobicoke Creek and picked up nearly 42 pounds of litter.

Kerry serves on the New York City Social Impact Executive Committee, where she plans volunteer events and connects with NYC schools and nonprofits to invest back in the community. Through the Local Impact Program, Kerry organized a group volunteering activity between the CDW and Okta teams to provide a $1,000 grant to America SCORES New York, a nonprofit that inspires youth to lead healthy lives through sport, poetry, and civic engagement.
