Explain the Account Representative (AR) role to someone who is unfamiliar with the industry.

Assisting customers with their IT needs and helping them get in touch with the right resources and individuals to maximize their IT potential; being a trusted advisor.

How did you decide to pursue your specific career? What pivotal moments pushed you to where you are now?

I decided that I needed something with more stability, security, and growth potential.  Coming from the teaching world, I found that these qualities were lacking and a pivotal moment that pushed me to pursue a career that would give them to me (CDW) was when my wife and I purchased a home and started to raise a family.  CDW has provided me with stability, security, and generous compensation, and it was the best move I could have made.

What would you say is the most difficult part of your job, and what fuels you to continue?

Trying to help as many people at a time as possible and provide the best solution while dealing with constrained budgets, item scarcity, and deadlines.

What does success look like in this role and how is it measured?

Success is measured by customer retention, account growth, and being able to adapt to change.

What are some must have resources that you would recommend (books, podcasts, certifications, tools, etc)?

Organizational skills, resilience, a clean workspace.

What is the best advice you’ve received/heard that you would tell your younger self?

Don’t dwell on the past, focus on the future; you can only do what is in your control.
