At CDW, we prioritize the health and well-being of our coworkers. It’s important to us that every coworker has the tools and resources to perform at their best personally and professionally. We offer a variety of benefits and perks that support coworkers’ physical, financial, emotional and social well-being. We asked two coworkers on our benefits team what they think are the most unique benefits and how CDW supports their lives outside of work.

What are unique and competitive components of CDW’s benefits package offerings?

I am a little biased on our benefits given my role, but some of the really great unique benefits we have include: 24/7 access to telemedicine through MDLive, great family benefits such as separate fertility coverage, paid parental leave, reimbursement for adoption fees and national full-time and backup child care options. Additionally, we have a variety of overall wellness programs through Weight Watchers, gym memberships, virtual coaching and therapy, and a variety of social opportunities.

What CDW benefit do you think is most unique?

Our family care benefits are top-notch. We have programs applicable for children ages newborn through high school. We partner with Bright Horizons to oversee our onsite child care center at our headquarters in Vernon Hills, and to provide preferred enrollment and discount options at all the Bright Horizons locations and partner centers across the country. We offer national backup child care, both center-based and in-home care. Coworkers can utilize a discounted Nanny Placement Service if they want permanent help at home or utilize a paid SitterCity membership to find sitters, house help or dog-walkers. For brand new parents, Transitions into Parenting is a free resource from birth all the way through toddler and ongoing support. For those with school-aged children, there is tutoring assistance and resources for test preparation for high schoolers. We even have in-home elder care backup support for those caring for aging loved ones.

What benefit do you wish more people knew about?

Our well-being partnership through Modern Health. Modern Health is our coworker assistance partner. Through their mobile app, they incorporate mindfulness habits into your life with digital courses and meditations. Coworkers can connect with certified wellness coaches and work towards personal goals. Modern Health provides access to a network of therapists for private and confidential in-person or virtual visits. A variety of resources for everyday life are available, including those for stress and anxiety, relationships, belonging and inclusion, grief and work performance.

Share a story of a time you took advantage of one of the amazing CDW benefits.

One of my favorite personal memories is being granted additional sabbatical time through our Celebrating Service Program. It allowed me the time off to take my number one bucket item trip to South Africa to go on safari. I love photography as well and was able to capture the most amazing moments from my trip.

How does CDW support your life outside of work?

CDW provides opportunities for me to save money through national merchants with our partnership with PerkSpot. From ordering flowers to vacation packages to buying holiday presents, PerkSpot is a great way to locate discounts on products and services. Additionally, being an active person, I've utilized our race reimbursement lottery, sports league sponsorship and the occasional physical activity challenge. Our internal Business Resource Groups are also important in providing me with support, resources and a sense of inclusion.

Share a story of a time you took advantage of one of the amazing CDW benefits.

Most recently, I used our coaching benefit through Modern Health. One of the benefits of coaching is that it allows you to be proactive in the areas of wellness that are important to you. This year I have been concentering on physical wellness. I had been experiencing a lot of muscle aches and pains that I knew could get better if I lost weight. I knew I needed guidance, so I reached out to a Modern Health coach this past July who specialized in nutrition and my coach helped me identify the number of calories I should eat to lose weight, but not feel exhausted. He gave me ideas of meal plans and provided accountability for how I was doing, and he also changed my plans when something wasn’t working.

How does CDW support your life outside of work?

I feel lucky to work for such an amazing company and team. In my career, I don’t think I have ever worked for a company that has encouraged me to take time off. Yet, at CDW my manager understands the importance of work/life balance and continuously encourages us to use our time off. This year I was fortunate enough to take my children on vacation and spend time with them in the Florida Keys, a place we hadn’t visited. I was also blessed to take an extended weekend to spend time with my girlfriends visiting the hills of North Carolina. Whether it’s taking time off for a mini or large vacation, or even using a flex day or personal day to catch up with housework, CDW has supported and encouraged using our time off.

What are company perks and offerings coworkers should take better advantage of?

As far as perks, I think others should take better advantage of the deals offered through PerkSpot. You can certainly find some discounted product gems! I’m not creative when it comes to making dinner; if I didn’t have children I’d probably eat out almost every night. But I saw an offer on PerkSpot for HelloFresh and decided to try it out. The stress it’s taken off of me at dinner time and the joy I get to see on my kids' faces when they open a box makes it truly one of the better perks from PerkSpot. 

How does CDW support coworkers’ financial wellness?

There are a number of ways in which CDW supports coworkers’ financial wellness. First, coworkers can connect with a financial coach through Modern Health for one-on-one sessions. The coaches use evidence-based approaches to help you handle non-clinical challenges, identify opportunities for growth, and create action plans to move towards your goals. Through Modern Health, coworkers also have access to a variety of financial resources ranging from a financial checkup assessment to a 30-minute consultation with a financial counselor. In addition to Modern Health, CDW offers a variety of benefits to help coworkers reach their financial goals, such as:

  • Access to a Credit Union Membership, which includes the opportunity to attend ongoing financial wellness webinars
  • Access to substantial corporate discounts on CDW products and discounts on things to enjoy outside of work
  • Access to the Fidelity Planning & Guidance Center for help establishing investment goals, determining strategies and assisting in changes to a coworker’s financial plan
  • Participation in CDW’s 401(k) Plan to help coworkers save and prepare for retirement
  • Tuition reimbursement and education partnerships for coworkers interested in continuing education
